UAE Showcases AI Leadership at UN’s First Digital Cooperation Day

At the United Nations General Assembly’s 80th session (#UNGA80), the spotlight fell on digital transformation as leaders gathered for the first-ever Digital Cooperation Day. Representing the UAE was HE Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science & Technology Affairs, who emphasized how the UAE is shaping the future of AI and digital governance.

The UAE’s approach to artificial intelligence focuses on policy frameworks that can guide not just national progress, but also regional development across the AMET region. This proactive role shows how the UAE is positioning itself as a standard-setter for emerging markets that want to harness AI responsibly.

Equally important is the balance the UAE is striking between rapid adoption of new technologies and building safeguards. This ensures that while innovation flourishes, governance keeps pace to protect people, data, and institutions. It’s a model that many countries are looking to replicate as they navigate the complexities of digital transformation.

By reinforcing its role as a hub for science and digital innovation, the UAE continues to strengthen its global reputation. From AI frameworks to space exploration, the country is aligning its national priorities with international efforts to create an inclusive, secure, and future-ready digital ecosystem.
