Biden Urged to Take Drug Test Before Debate with Trump
Former White House Doctor Demands Transparency Ahead of High-Stakes Showdown
Jackson, who served as the presidential physician under multiple administrations, alleged that Biden may be using "performance-enhancing drugs" to boost his cognitive abilities. The congressman cited perceived discrepancies in Biden's recent State of the Union address compared to his usual demeanor, suggesting the president may have been influenced by medication.
"I'm going to be demanding on behalf of many millions of concerned Americans right now that [Biden] submit to a drug test before and after this debate, specifically looking for performance-enhancing drugs," Jackson said during an interview on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."
The request co
mes as Biden prepares to face off against Trump, his Republican challenger, in a highly anticipated debate. Jackson, a staunch supporter of the former president, has previously called for Biden to undergo a cognitive test similar to the one administered to Trump during his presidency.
"There's just really no way to explain that, other than he was on something, that they'd given him medications," Jackson said, referring to Biden's State of the Union performance. The congressman speculated that the president's aides may be "experimenting with just getting the doses just right" while Biden is at the presidential retreat in Camp David this week.
However, the White House has dismissed Jackson's allegations, with spokesperson Andrew Bates highlighting the ongoing "intimidation" felt by Republican officials towards Biden's capabilities. Bates pointed to the president's achievements in areas such as infrastructure, crime reduction, and global competition.
The debate over the mental fitness of both candidates has been a recurring theme in the 2024 election cycle. Trump, who is 78 years old, has also faced scrutiny over his own cognitive abilities, with Biden co-chair Mitchrieu drawing attention to the former president's recent lapse in memory regarding Jackson's name.
As the nation prepares for the high-stakes debate, the call for transparency and accountability from both campaigns will likely continue to dominate the political discourse in the weeks leading up to the event.
